I haven't updated my blog for a few days, but I've mainly been busy at uni or filling in the ever present forms for some organisation or another. I started the fle course on wednesday. Having been pretty pleased to be in group 8 out of 10, I soon regretted it as the teacher began talking about agreements, CODs and subjects in rapid french; then giving us on the spot questions. To make matters worse, a Polish girl who the teacher picked at random and I have to do a 15 minute presentation next lesson on a topic of our choosing. But not 'something boring, like geography'. Great.
Today LA, CA and I visited Sète, a port town west of Montpellier. After a stroll through the centre, where there were the most amazing patisseries, we decided to head down to the beach. There were 3 small beaches closest to us, all cut into the rock which made a change from the beaches I'm used to. As we were going out later that evening, we decided to have an early dinner so stopped at a restaurant by the harbour to feast on some moules frites. I couldn't finish mine but CA said she would help me; but the owner came and said he was going to reheat them for her. However, when he returned he was carrying a whole new pot of mussles and a portion of chips. Even better was that it was free! 3 portions and 2 desserts for 20 euros? BARGAIN.
Later that night we went into town for a drink and a dance. A few of us were quite tired though so we decided to get the last tram home at 2am. However, due to our general lack of urgency we arrived 1 minute late, or should I say the tram left 1 minute early. We then tried to hire some bikes using our Tam cards, but only 1 out of 3 of us had their card validated for bikes as well as trams and buses. Despite the attentions of a very helpful group of 18 year old boys we decided to walk home along the tram line, which took just over an hour. First thing I'm going to do Monday morning: validate my card.
