After my lectures Monday we decided to eat at uni then go into town for a wander. However, on the tram TO started feeling ill; so we went to Antigone (the picture) and he ended up laying down in the sun shivering and aching while I went to the nearest pharmacy to get some medicaments. After about an hour we decided to go home so he could have a nap while I did some work, as we'd planned to go out with a few friends in the evening for dinner. Luckily it seemed to be a 5 hour thing, and he was fine by the time we left for dinner at 8. We'd decided to try sushi for the first time so enlisted the help of CA and MA, both seasoned experts. It was actually pretty nice and not a bad price for how filling it was; I'll be returning to Sushi Shop. We then went for a crepe. A fun and surprisingly cheap evening had by all.
Tuesday was another morning of lectures, but in the afternoon we went into town as TO was getting ancy that he hadn't bought anything yet. First we had lunch from a deli that we discovered. After realising TO couldn't speak any French, the woman proceeded to ask questions about him and then laugh, much to TO's embarrassment. She then said the title of this entry just before we left. After searching for a winter coat (£1000? no thanks) and drooling on the Kooples window he eventually ended up buying a jumper and a couple of postcards.
For our final dinner together we decided to push the boat out and go to a restaurant where there is only one meal: steak and chips. We ate until we could eat no more, and then shared a dessert. Definitely one of the best meals here. We then went and had a drink outside a popular bar/ restaurant in the old centre, only to realise after we'd ordered that we were actually sitting at a table for the restaurant opposite. Oh well, we've discovered a new place for pizza.
I went to the airport bus with TO on Wednesday and felt a bit teary eyed. Until I saw a couple the same age as us arrive at the bus, with the girl hysterically crying as her boyfriend practically held her up. For some reason as we both stood watching our boyfriends get on the bus, I felt a lot better that I can cope on my own in a foreign country. Feminism here I come.
