Tuesday was a new day and we decided to go to Cannes for the Film Festival. KA was really making me work in the café (café au lait, mini torsade, croissant et pain au chocolat) while I was helping some Italians in their quest for a glass. When we arrived we went down to the sea and immediately turned the wrong way along the sea front, but we still had an enjoyable few hours of people watching, celeb hunting and window shopping (Prada or Louis V?). We then headed towards the main film area and had a panini overlooking the red carpet. On the other side was the main yacht harbour so we wandered around eyeing up the deckhands and making horrible comments about the people onboard. Definitely not jealous. We were then walking back along the front when a woman came up to us and made us start posing for her camera. At first I thought she might be trying to steal our stuff but it was actually just a weird photoshoot by the sea. Apart from KA, who's sure she saw Brad Pitt in a car, the most famous people we saw (who we actually knew) were two tv presenters.
Wednesday was the BIG DAY. The one we'd been looking forward to all week. MONACO. As we stepped out of the train station we could see the harbour below us, so we decided to head there first. However, once we got down there, we realised that the pit lane and paddock were already set up and we ended up staying there all day. We saw some tourists hanging around the gate of the paddock so we waited and when the attendant left the gate they all rushed in, so naturally I dragged KA in as well. Less than a minute later and Vettel ran right past me! I was so excited I was almost shaking and my heart was beating so fast so I had to go and sit down. We walked along past Alonso's back on his balcony to Lotus, where a German told us Kimi was coming out soon. Again, I got really excited as we were right at the front. When he was doing the interview the German gave his camera to a man on the inside and he took loads of closeups of Kimi, so I asked him to do the same for me and he did! Safe to say that was the highlight of the day. We'd been sensible and brought lunch with us, which we ate on a seawall overlooking the coast. After we briefly lost each other trying to find a toilet we went back down to the action in the pitlane, and managed to see basically all the drivers. After a failed attempt to stalk Jake Humpries we ran into Sergio Perez who was so sweet and I then destroyed my knee trying to jump over a fence to get to Ted Kravitz of all people! We could have literally stayed there forever, and there was so much we didn't see, so we had to console ourselves with a final evening meal at La Tapenade. Ciao Monaco, je te kiffe trop.
