Well I've arrived in Kenya!! Now why on earth am I hear again?!? I thought Africa was a warm country, it certainly isn't just now.
I suppose this trip will have its up and down points, just now I've just watched Hotel Rwanda the film with 10 other house mates, yes it's a good film but certainly not the best choice for my first night in Kenya!! I'm s***ting it now hehe. Plus so cold that I'm chittering away here, I'm in bed with two pairs o socks on, my pjs, my hoodie, 6 blankets, cup of tea and some kinder chocolate that mum put in my rucksack :) thanks mum! Ok so just now I'd say I'm a tad tired and upset! Sorry for the texts Andrew :) But...
I've had a lovely first day, John and Desmond picked me up from the airport at 8am and all I can say about the journey here was wow!! Kinda what I expected though!
Desmond gave me a tour of Brackenhurst before lunch, we have a cottage for African Impact volunteers, there are 12 other volunteers in the house at present and another 7 joining tomorrow, with Claire leaving in the morning! 2 guards outside the cottage 24 hours a day and the centre is also security fenced with guards on the gates!!
In the middle of the centre which I'd say would be about the size of 4 football pitches maybe bigger, there is the restaurant, coffee shop, Internet cafe and gift shop!
We get breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant, the food at lunch and dinner was lovely!! Can't complain at all. The other volunteers say there's been no problem with the food!!
I'm in a room with 4 beds but just me at the moment. Presume it will fill up tomorrow with the other new arrivals!
Right I'm away to try sleep and finish my cup of tea :)
P.S. The other house mates are all lovely, they've asked me to join them and go to Masie Mara with them which leaves on Thursday morning! Definatly joining them cos no idea what the new in mates :) will be like and scared to miss out on a lovely group!
Good night Kenya!!! xxx
