Great Australian West North Expedition (GAWNE)
Day 57. Pancakes at our van for breakfast and then a drive around Exmouth and out to the old defence base for a look. So many old derelict buildings, obviously from the 1970's and 80's when communications with US ships and submarines was key. Now satellite communications have overtaken. We had our first view of the magnificent World Heritage Ningaloo Reef from the tip of the Cape at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse and from the beach where the 1907 wreck of the SS Mildura lies. Unusual background of the 13 tall aerial masts of the old communications station. Dinner tonight with our friends Ross and Robyn at Golden Orchid Thai in Exmouth. Still very windy today, mild 24 degrees.
