Day 55. We left very early for our big run down the West Coastal Highway from Point Samson to Exmouth, about 600km. The entire trip was very interesting with the giant mesas of the Cane River Conservation Park and the rolling red sandhills after we crossed the wide Ashburton River. The variety of wild flowers were amazing and we stopped in several spots for photos. Morning tea at Fortescue Roadhouse and refuelling and lunch at Nanutarra Roadhouse. We turned off for the long haul up to the North West Cape to Exmouth, slowing down in places for sheep wandering the roadsides. Past the RAAF base at Learmonth and into the Exmouth Cape Big 4 by late afternoon. Dinner with Ross and Robyn at Whalers Restaurant - gumbo and grilled red schnapper to die for! We were served by lovely staff from NZ, Nova Scotia, Estonia and Sri Lanka around the pool. Back at our van we caught the final 15 minutes of the Bledisloe Cup, yay Australia. Fine sunny 26 degrees, a big day.
