After passing through Watson Lake, we were once again in new territory. Finally, we saw wildlife! First we saw a black bear alongside the highway then we started to see bison. The first couple of sightings were of lone males - one a huge old fellow. He lowered his head and pawed at the ground. I thought we were in for it but he was just getting ready for a dust bath. There were lots of bare spots where these guys would just lay down and roll around in the dust. Soon we came across the herd - they apparently live along the highway right-of-way. There were females and calves along with more bulls all on the left side of the road. Suddenly, two huge bulls came up the steep bank on the right and slowly clambered over the concrete barriers. Then they just stood there looking at us. Rather intimidating!

The tree are in the middle of their colour change and we are seeing more orange- gold rather than just yellow. Many of our photos are drive-by shots of the gorgeous views out the windshield as we can't always just stop our 50+ foot rig to snap pictures.

We came across some pretty heavy-duty construction on this road and, right in the middle of it, there were some stone sheep.

Our plan to enjoy the Liard Hot Springs was thwarted when the campsite was full. There was room in the overflow area but we would have had to trek across the highway and then ten minutes to the hot springs. Given the cool evenings, we decided to keep driving.

We spent the night in Muncho Lake - a disappointing RV park with very expensive fuel. The most expensive site on our trip so far and very tight quarters. We cooked our dinner on the end of the picnic table - right next to our neighbour's sewer hose. Our only other option would have been to put the table out on the road.
