Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
First stop today was Mt Hypipamee National Park. The Crater was very interesting. It became about after a huge gas explosion from volcanic activity and has created a hole that is 61m down to the water level and then curves under the lookout and continues down another 80m deeper.
The nearby Dinner Falls was ok but not very accessible so it was hard to get a good view without climbing down the embankment.
Driving from Mt Hypipamee to Milla Milla was a very beautiful drive with all the rolling green hills everywhere. Next we did the Waterfall Circuit which was great because they were all a very short walk. Milla Milla Falls was the nicest and a good spot to swim if the water wasn't so cold.
Dropped by the Curtain Fig Tree...
before heading to Gallo Dairyland. The cheese making demonstrations weren't running at the time but we did have a cheese platter which was very nice except they only gave us 8 crackers to have with about 40 pieces of cheese.
We watched them milk the cows and learnt some interesting facts. They get 20-25L of milk a day from each cow and for a cow to produce 1L of milk they need to drink 5.5L of water! It takes a cow 60hrs to turn grass into milk and it takes 10L of milk to make 1kg of cheese!
I am not enjoying the cool change in weather after having such warms nights in far north Queensland. The wind is different to what I have experienced in the past. It tends to be very stop start with big wind gusts opposed to a more consistent wind.
