It's a strange thing about travelling light - it plugs straight into my acquisitive streak. We cycled to Kerikeri today to see the meeting house where the Waitangi agreement was signed. A 46 km round trip. Seems it is actually in Paihia, about 500m from the backpacker hostel we are staying in. We'd passed it the night before on our way to finding supper and thought it looked interesting.
Still, we did have a nice ride and popped into several kauri wood workshops and an art gallery. Never have I so wanted to buy so much stuff. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
At one point we cycled past a chocolate factory. And Mark didn't stop. Well not straight away anyway. A few metres down the road he suddenly decided it was very important to look at some mire kauri woodcarvings, oh and pop into the chocolate factory which just so happened to be next door for a free sample....

lesley Re: "Still we did have a nice ride" - thinking you'll be saying that a lot now. Pema and I got the atlas out and found Cape Reinga. Photo looks so beautiful. Scared we are going to lose you to NZ - especially if the chocolates good! xx
