Day 30 Picton to Waipapa Bay 127km
Picton to Blenheim in torrential rain. Cup of coffee. Still pouring. We went to the aviation museum to see the display of WW1 planes. Now bear with me here. It was torrential, the guide book raved about it and a seemingly sane woman on the boat at Picton told me it was really good. "Not at all what you think it will be like". Sadly, it was a hangar full of lots of old planes. Still, dry and a cafe. Still raining when we left so headed for Blenheim museum and a very interesting story of sheep farming to viticulture answering at least some of the questions that have come up over the last couple of weeks. Still raining. Next stop- Montana winery where we had christmas lunch and shared a glass of wine. 2pm. Sunny! So we cycled another 100km in lovely warm sunshine, pitched at a DOC site wedged between the railway line and SH1 but with a lovely beach. Supper. Settled down to watch the lunar eclipse due at 9.17 but got driven in at 10 by sandflies and tiredness. Apparently appeared just after 10....
