Day 53 Slope Point to Curio Bay 19km
After a glorious night in our 3 bedroomed house listening to the howling wind and rain and a lie in and 3 cups of tea we decided it was time to bike the final 4km to the most southerly point. The wind was blowing so hard that I had to hold the bike to stop it falling over and the photo is blurred cos we couldn't hold the camera still. At least there was no theme park though.
Then back on the bike to Curio Bay. Imagine Gwithian on a blustery, sunny March day. Porpoise Bay and Curio Bay looks the same. Except there are sea lions and rare yellow eyed penguins and Hector dolphins and a petrified Jurassic forest at low tide. We spent ages watching the penguins waddle and jump their way up the rocky beach to their nests in the trees and then feed their large fluffy squawking offspring. Worth slowing down for. Decided it's still too cold and windy to camp so we're in a 1970s caravan for the night. Tomorrow is the last day when we'll have the tailwind so we are tempted to make the most of it and put in a full day on the bike. But we'll see....
