Day 3: Broadwood to Opononi 51km
A mere 51km. A day off really. We left our lovely secluded campsite early and cycled to the ferry crossing at Kohukohu. The last 5k was along the utterly deserted river bank. I know one of the reasons we came here was how deserted New Zealand is but it's still a constant surprise. Now I find myself drinking tea and looking at the impossibly huge sand dune opposite an equally beautiful sweeping white sandy beach in a settlement with a population of 50.
We decided to have a short day today. Aforementioned red nose and sore butt problem mostly. Pitched our tent. Washed some clothes. Sat on the beach reading. So far so good!
