A very busy day today once we arrived at Ayers Rock Resort this afternoon. The kids enjoyed participating in a Cultural Dance Workshop where Renee learned the emu dance for ladies, and Eamon learned the kangaroo dance for the fellas. A little later and they were able to put their learnings into practice with others as the Cultural Dancers showed us some traditional dances that the audience could participate in (Dad included!).
Uluru itself can be seen as you drive towards the accommodation areas, but is actually about 20 kms away. The sunset is a highlight and the vantage point is about 5kms from it - you could watch that every night and not get tired of it - it really is superb! Many people departed when the sun had set, however, the colour of the rock continued to change for a good 20 mins later, so I'm glad we didn't rush away.
Dinner was at the "Outback Pioneer BBQ" where we enjoyed some kangaroo, emu, buffalo & barramundi.
