We had a great time in Darwin, but it was time to leave, so we headed off about 9.30am towards Kakadu. We got a call in transit from Renee's netball team (Starlings) to let us know they'd won the Final today, and are in the Grand Final next Saturday, so we were very excited! We were booked into the 11am "Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise" down at Adelaide River. On our arrival, the kids got to handle a water python with a yellow belly called Medusa which they really enjoyed. We boarded the 2-storey boat and headed up the river with crocodiles left and right. The bigger ones though chased the boat and were keen for a feed so the guides obliged and made the crocs work for their food. It was good fun, and the captain was very informative on the way out and back.
On our way again for a while, until we stopped at Bark Hut Inn for lunch - a lovely little spot on the Arnhem Highway halfway between Darwin and Kakadu National Park. It's an iconic Northern Territory Pub, Roadhouse and Travelers Rest Stop. We eventually arrived late afternoon at our final destination - Gagudju Crocodile Hotel. We are staying in a family hotel room for 3 nights while our van stays out on the grass in the carpark! The hotel's in the shape of a crocodile, and our room is midway between the front and back right legs and our courtyard is next to the pool! We enjoyed a relaxing swim this evening, and had a nice buffet dinner in the restaurant.
