I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. It really feels like a week ago I was saying goodbye to everyone to come here, yet 10 weeks have already gone by. However, when I do look back at my pictures and other posts I've already done so much since I've been here. I feel like these first 10 weeks was just the beginning of something I'm never going to forget.
Starting in Horb actually ended up being really nice. It gave me time to adjust to the German way of life, and be emerged in the German language. Every day for breakfast I chatted with my host mom in German, in Tübingen I won't have that. Plus almost everyone there will speak English. I'm really going to try hard though to keep studying and speaking as much as I can.
Today was my last day at Herman-Hesse. I'm not going to lie; I wish I would have become closer with my teacher. Since I didn't feel so close to her, I wasn't really sad leaving. All 12 of us are going to Tübingen together, and the Brazilians and Rita have already guaranteed they'll be coming to visit us often. So it wasn't such a sad goodbye.
Tonight though, I was planning on going out with everyone. But, somehow that didn't seem to work out. Instead my host mom made scrambled eggs for dinner (yay!) and I spent the evening helping my host mom replant her 80 Tomato plants. It was cute, and I figured tomorrow I'll spend the day with them to. Apparently we're supposed to be having a nice dinner. Plus I need to finish packing.
Sunday, I'll be leaving the security and safety net of my guest family. They're really great people, so hopefully when my German is better I can come back and get to know them better. I bought them a cake on Wednesday from Café im Schloss, of course they loved it.
But like I said before, it's a bittersweet goodbye. I'm ready to have my freedom back though and travel around Europe. I already have flights and plans to see so much more before I come home. Next week I'll be in Nürnberg with Karla, then Frankfurt with Audrey. The week after I'll be in Sweden and Denmark, and before I know it, Keri will be here and we'll be in Dublin!
I also booked flights today for Prague (Czech Republic) and Budapest (Hungary) over the weekend of my birthday. Can't wait!
Anyways, I have some random pictures from this week to put up. I took a few when we went to Café im Schloss on Wednesday for Maya's birthday, Rafael with all of their Pfand slips, and some group pictures of us Herman-Hesse kids. Enjoy.
Since I'll be traveling around so much, I won't be taking my computer. So I won't be able to update until at least April 20th. Until then… catch up on my old blogs, send me some letters to my new address so I have them to look forward to when I get back, and be excited for my new updates!
Backpacking life, here I come!
