So it's Saturday night, I'm in Europe and yes I'm sitting in my bed.
Why?
Last night was once again amazing! Whoever thought that Halloween should be for kids? It's much more fun to be an adult and go trick-or-treating for shots.
Last night I was sitting at dinner and Angelika was telling me that Faschings was here in Ahldorf tonight.Of course I already knew about and was planning on meeting Elisabeth to go. However, I was not expecting to wear a costume or anything. However, Angelika brought me a costume from her closet and as I was getting ready the doorbell rang. About 7 people all dressed up came inside invading the house and took over the living room. They pulled me into the living room and my host mom started pouring shots of Schnapps for all of us. After say about three everyone decided it was time to go and asked me if I was going to come with them? I had thought they were just going to go to the place where everyone else was… but no.
We literally walked door to door, knocking and then invading people's houses where we would dance and sing for shots of whatever they decided to give us. At one point we even took over a band practice! Which at first I was kind of disappointed because I figured we wouldn't get any shots. I was wrong… Of course they would have shot glasses and bottles of liquor at the band practice! The band played live music for us to sing and dance to then finally kicked us out. We finally made it to the place where the rest of the town was and danced the night away.
Pretty much the most amazing thing ever, and I suggest that if you're an adult that loves Halloween and taking a lot of shots you should move here.
The only downfall of last night was waking up this morning to get on a train for 2.5 hours. We went to Konstanz for the day. It's located right on the Bodensee (the largest lake in Germany), and is only about 10 steps away from Switzerland. It's a very beautiful city, but the weather today was not so great. So, I'm going to have to go back when it's actually sunny and warm. However, it was still a good day with the group. We walked around and seen the main things that the city had to offer. Including a gigantic statue of a prostitute….
My German is getting a whole lot better. I had a dream the other night in German and I guess it's supposed to be a "sign." I can say though that probably about 85% of my thinking every day is just trying to think of what words are in German. For example what's the word in German for a goat? Who learns that in class? Luckily though, I have my new friend Drew/my walking talking dictionary.
I thought you should all know though that if it wasn't for all of you I would probably never come home. It's amazing here. The attitude is so carefree and laid back, I don't know how I'm going to adjust back to my normal lifestyle when I come home. The one thing I won't miss though is trying to actually find a bathroom that you don't have to pay to get in to! It's extremely irritating when you really have to go!
On Wednesday me, Annie and Cassie went for a hike around Horb. We ended up pretty much climbing a mountain and we got a really pretty view of the city from above. I took some pictures so I'll be adding them. After my hike around Horb me and Elisabeth walked home to Ahldorf. It was a good hour walk, but I guess when we have time to kill there's no reason not to walk 6km. In which my knee is doing a lot better. It's still sore and I can't squat or kneel on it but def. better than it was.
On the way back from Konstanz we were talking about going skiing in Austria soon. I really hope we go next weekend, if not we will probably go one weekend in March. Can't wait though!
We got our room assignments for when we move to Tubingen in April. I will be living in the dorm called Prinz Karl in Zimmer (Room) #1. Kind of weird… who actually lives in a room with the #1? The coolest thing though is that it is actually Dr. Alzheimer's old house, how awesome!
Today is my mom's birthday though. Happy Birthday Mom! I love you J
However I believe it is time to catch up on my TV shows. I actually get to sleep in tomorrow!
Tschuss!
