So I don't think I have ever been so tired and uncomfortable in my life. For starters, the trains we took to get here were ridiculous, although the flight was very good. But first our train to Stuttgart was delayed... We get off the train (on platform 15) with 6 minutes to make it to platform 7 to catch our train to Horb. Imagine 9 American kids running with a ton of luggage with a bunch of Germans staring at us. Hilarious.
Needless to say, we didn't make our train. So we had to wait another hour for the next one. Once we get on the train, I'm super relieved so once we get to horb we all stand up to get our luggage. Two people get off, then the doors shut and train starts moving!!! Really? So we had to ride on the train for like 15 minutes until the next stop, get off then come back. I FINALLY made it!
My host mother (Angelika) picked me up in a car that was the same size as my luggage. Figures. But my host father's name is Helmut and they have four children: Janina, 23. Rowena, 14. Samuel, 12. and David, 10. I've meet them all, and they're really nice. The younger children don't really speak to me much, but they're kind of busy doing their own thing. Plus I think the two little boys are scared of me cause I might have cooties. Who knows.
Anways, they're all very nice. I just feel stupid because my German is so bad. I can barely communicare back. I need to learn...really fast. But I already miss home. Right when I started unpacking I felt the culture shock. So many things are different. From the water to the hangers. But I just hope I get up to speed with my German soon so I can tell them more about me and express myself more. I will be here for ten weeks so that should be plenty enough time to refresh my german especially since I'll be in class for 6 hours a day speaking German.
I'm already looking foward to Tuebingen though. My own dorm, no pressure to socialize. No akwardness. They do have wireless internet here though (score!), so I can have a quiet place to call home. :)
Anwaysy I woke up at 9:00am (Home time) yesterday, and I'm still awake now (20:00 here) and I have classes at 9:00 am. So I think I'm going to try and get some sleep.
Guten Nacht!
Fun Fact: $400= 270 Euro
