As I started my travels at the end of March, my first stop ended up being Nürnberg, Germany. I decided since I had a couple of days before I was meeting Cassie in Frankfurt I would go ahead and visit Karla there. I'm sure I've mentioned Karla before, but just in case I haven't… Karla is one of the girls that was at Herman-Hesse with us. She's from Mexico and is pretty much amazing. She's a lawyer and can speak Spanish, English, French AND German! (When I grow up I want to be like Karla and be multi-lingual.) Like I said, amazing.
I showed up and was greeted outside of the train station by her, and we went on our merry way to her apartment. At this time she was living near the middle of town, so it wasn't too bad of a walk with my backpack and my massive suitcase full of crap I was bringing home. (Also at this time no one knew I was coming home, hahaha!) We spent the night walking around, exploring the city and found a cute little place on the river to eat. It ended up being an early night since she had worked all day, and that three hour train ride took away all of my energy.
The next day, Karla being a grown-up actually had to go to work. She's doing a internship with some place that deals with international immigration. So what did I do while she was at work? Went to this really sweet TOY MUSEUM! I got to learn about the history of all sorts of different toys like doll house's, toy cars, baby dolls, and just about anything else you can think of.
After the toy museum I walked around the day market, ate some ice cream, and then wandered up to the castle. The castle was amazing and gave a great view of the city below. This is when Karla called. She'd gotten out of work early, so we met up back at the market. We ended up doing some shopping, which Karla was thrilled that she had someone to shop with and give her an opinion! The rest of the night we spent walking, finding some dinner, and having some lovely chats.
I'm sort of sad that I don't think I'll make it back to Nürnberg again. The number of weekends I have left are slowly getting filled with other adventures, but I'll def. be seeing Karla again! Last week we just booked flights to meet up in Berlin for the weekend of June 12th. I can't wait!
Coming up next: Frankfurt with Audrey!
