Good News! I have survived my first day of class. All we pretty much did was the the "placement" test to figure out which classes we will be put into (I'm sure I'll be in the ultimate beginner), and learn the run down of everything. I think I'm really going to like at the Herman-Hesse Kollege. After school was done (On wednesday's at 12:30), some of us went to a Turkish restraunt to eat and I had a Pizza Margherita. Pretty much just a medium sized pizza! Apparently they eat really large lunches here. Weird.
After lunch we walked around Horb for a while. On Wednesdays, everything is closed... so I could get help from the T-mobile people to figure out my "Handy". Btw T-mobile dominates here. Oh and they have these really random vending machines everywhere. You can buy minutes for your Handy and cigarettes. Kinda funny. But not many people were out and about because of everything closed and they think 35 degrees Fahrenheit is freezing (haha).
But I've realized that I'm going to have alot of time to think and do stuff that I normally don't get to do at home. I def. don't think I brought enough books. I might be ordering some through Amazon...
I just had a cup of coffee a bit ago with Angelika and chatted (yes, with my crappy German), but it was nice. I'm getting better and she's very understanding. After that I watched some Handball on TV (they watch alot of tv here) with Helmut. Handball is very... aggressive, however interesting and Deutschland (Germany) won! Helmut was very pleased.
After dinner I learned the words for washing and drying. I choose to dry, and their pots and pans are extremely heavy! I had to set them on the counter to dry! The food is very good here, different but tasteful. Their diet includes a whole lot of carbs... For breakfast this morning I had no idea what to do. Angelika set out rolls, meat, butter, and like 4 different spreads. I guess you're supposed to make some kind of roll sandwich? Hmm...
Anyways after talking to everyone today at HHK (my school) I feel alot better cause I'm not the only one that feels completely lost. I mean come on... Brian (a kid here with us) didn't have any newspaper when he was clearing his plate this morning (An odd thing, the germans separate all their trash. All food must be wrapped in newspaper and be put in a separate bin) but he had a piece of cheese and no newspaper, so he put it in his pocket! Then threw it outside when they left. lmao.
But it's about time I should go. Call my mom and then get to bed. Lots of German to learn tomorrow!
Fun Fact: They drink carbonated water here...
