Sunday 13th September - Flight to Marseilles
We got on board the plane, A320 Airbus by getting onboard a bus from the terminal and getting a 10 minute ride out to the plane waiting on a concrete apron.
The plane started to move off down the taxiway and the captain told us that we were 10-12 in line to take off BUT because of the electrical storm around Rome no planes were allowed to take off.
We sat there for 1 hour but eventually the plane got airborne and there were a few too many bumps for Jannie to be happy but the 1hour10 minute flight landed in Marseilles and we deplaned in a light misty drizzle.
We got our bags and went out into the terminal and there was our driver waiting for us. The trip into the city took about 30 minutes and the son of the apartment owners let us in and Jan took one look and said she would rather be someplace else.
There were a few problems, it was raining, it was dark, the sheets on the bed were flannelette, there were only 2 towels, don't use all of the electrical things in the kitchen at the same time as it will blow the fuse, the apartment instructions and the restaurant guide were all in French and the son only spoke halting English.
We went out to have something to eat although neither of us felt like eating - it was more the wine we were after! But we shared a chicken salad and a wine and then it was back to the apartment to go to bed after a shower.
What a difference waking up to a sunny day makes.
