Monday 14th September - Watching the World Go by
We wandered down to the Quai about 4.00pm and watched the little trains come in with all of the tourists on board.
We went and sat at a table under an umbrella and had a beer each and people watched.
We chatted with a couple of Brits who had just arrived today by train from London. I don't think he wanted to talk though.
Then wandered back to our apartment via our local "dairy/fruiterer. We wanted breadcrumbs to coat the fish and we had no idea what breadcrumbs were called but started off with peche and pain, then petite pain and cooking and the chap and a lady in the shop were trying very hard to get the guist of what we were trying to convey. All of a sudden he went around the corner and got a box of chapelure and showed it to us and we said oui chapelure, and everyone laughed.
We walked home and had leftover bread from lunch drizzled with olive oil and with a bit of brie and an olive on top together with a glass of wine. The wine glasses are a bit clunky.
We watched the sun go down and the beautiful colours of all the buildings.
The fish and salad was lovely and we shared a little French apple tart.
