Thursday 17th September - Cours Julien
Jannie had seen an article about Cours Julien and how you could spend a week getting to know this little neighbourhood. It was written by someone who had lived there since 1987.
Well we set off after coffee and watching a protest march by a huge group that had something to do with College avoiding the puddles and the rain had stopped and the sky was lightening an we headed up La Canabiere.
We took a side street and ended up in a market that had dozens of fruit stalls and a few fish stalls and butcheries. Somehow we ended up on the wrong side of the market and instead of being along the front where the goods could be purchased we ended up out the back where all of the empty boxes and cardboard cartons were heaped.
We turned the next corner and headed up Cours Julien and most of the places were closed and it may be a hip place at night but in the day was very bohemian, old and tatty.
There were graffiti murals everywhere and most of them had obviously been commissioned and were great.
