Kari goes to Lincoln, England
Today it is pretty chilly and kind of drizzly...I am beginning to think that it rains every Friday. It is hard to see the Cathedral because it is pretty foggy.
Ok since Sunday I have been telling myself that I am going to get caught up on journals. And I have done a few and worked on some. But have yet to get completely caught up. It is 3:30 and I am doing laundry. It is a lot different than MSUM. Like for example for 200 people in South Snarr we had 8 washing machines. There are at least 18 courts here, I think there are about 10 apartments in each and the number of people in each apartment is 6-8. There are 15 washing machines and 13 dryers. You get here and everything is full you have to wait in line until one is empty and then put your stuff in. People keep walking in and I can see there being fights. I think stuff would probably get taken out at some point also. There are just not enough machines for this many people. UGH!!! So I am a little nervous about this whole thing. Oh not that I think my stuff would get stolen for anything, its just that I don't' want to come back and find some of it on the floor. I don't think people are that mean, I am just not willing to take that chance and find out. I'm back from switching my stuff around. Now I am sitting here talking to Viv deciding what to do tonight. Ahh what chaos here. I am never doing laundry on Friday again. That's what I get for not getting out of bed this morning. I probably would have gotten up and done it, but my huge drawback was that I didn't have any laundry detergent. So I was avoiding walking to Morrison's. I woke up around 10:30 and was getting ready when Laura called me to make sure that I had my form turned into for the schools project by 12!!! What? Panic mode...I still had to go check it over with this lady in the atrium before I turned it in and it was already 11:15 when I talked to Laura. So I hurried up and it took me a little while to find here office. She told me how to fill the form and everything out and then said oh yeah you have to bring your passport and something with your address on it when you turn it in. It was 11:55 and I probably could have filled out the form and had it turned it by 12 but I had to walk all the way back to my room. First I stopped by the Media Productions Office and told them and they were like oh don't worry about the 12PM deadline. So I walked back to my room, filled out the new one, because I had forgotten to write in capital on the first one and then walked back. Finally got that one all settled. What a relief. The reason I had to fill this form out is because I am working in the elementary school for the one radio class and this is a background check sort of thing to make sure I haven't murdered anyone etc. Then I ventured to Morrison's to buy laundry detergent and some milk and some more food because the cupboard was getting a little bare and I was running out of things to eat. I found some good stuff; I got home around 2:30 and ate some cereal because I hadn't eaten yet. One because I didn't have food and two because I hadn't really had extra time either. Then off to do laundry what an adventure. I got the first load in right away but had to wait awhile for the second load. I was sitting there and this guy saw that I was waiting and one opened up and he got my attention and let me have it. How nice. I went back and got my computer and now I am sitting here typing while I wait. I got one dryer right away but didn't get the other one until about a half an hour later. So now I have to wait. It sucks. Oh well...I hope that I can go out tonight, I really want to do something fun. People are weird here. No one had laundry baskets....everyone brings stuff in plastic bags from stores. Some people use duffel bags I saw this one guy with one of those pop up laundry things. I wish I would have brought my laundry bag, but I have a duffel bag and it works good enough. Today I don't need a nap like I usually do. I went to bed at 11 last night and I feel great today. I just can't wait to get out of this hell hole for a laundry room. Yuk. I think it was around 5 when I got to leave the prison - what a relief. I came back to my room and put my laundry away and cleaned the room and just kind of hung out until 6:30. Because at 6:30 I was going with my flatmates to get take-out Indian food. It was kind of fun walking there and we got our food and came back and watched British soaps while we ate. It was really good by the way and then we watched Legally Blond 2. It was a fun girls night in and I don't hang out with them a whole lot. I don't even see them too often either. It was kind of a shock seeing Viv this afternoon. When the movie got out I came back to my room and have been on the Internet since just working on updating journals and such. Nothing too exciting I think I am going to go to bed soon. I ended up going to bed around 3AM because I had gotten so much sleep the night before J
