30 years ago we lived in Toowoomba for 2 years. Ok we thought, lets go and see our old place and check out this lovely little town!!
OMG what a shock! This place has exploded....it is HUGE! We didnt recognise anything. This place used to be a lovely small city to drive around and was a nice place to bring up kids with a country mentality. Small, friendly and very family orientated. Well now it is a HUGE city and I would certainly get lost here. We located our old address only to find it is a social security house now and the house and street was terrible. The kids schools hadnt changed too much but the area around them has. We were in shock the whole time trying to understand how we thought this place was so small!
The Japanese Gardens at the Universtiy were lovely. It was a cloudy day when we visited so the photos dont do it justice. It was very tranquil, serene and pretty.
We camped at the showground with our friends and enjoyed the lovely area there. The showgrounds were lovely and very well maintained. They have events there continually and we were visited frequently be the local flock of geese. On the weekend the equine events took over the area in front of our van, there were horses everywhere.
We decided Toowoomba is still a lovely place and we would live here again. The town itself is well set out, the parklands and ovals are well maintained and very well used. It is definately preferrable to Brisbane.
