We only stayed in Townsville to have repairs done on the Caravan wheels and tyres. We found another gem of a camp ground. Traveling from Charters Towers we headed toward Ravenswood and then on to the Burdekin Falls Dam which we had read about in a leaflet. After traveling the outback for so long, we feel like we are on an overseas tropical holiday here at Charters Towers Oasis Caravan Park. Well it had to happen I guess.....out in the middle of nowhere, 100km from nearest (tiny) town, flat barren horizon, we did a wheel bearing on the caravan!! We were, however, the luckiest people around as Ray, who has been traveling with us for a couple of months, had bought a spare bearing and it just happened to be the right one for our van!! Still in the outback, we stopped at Winton who's claim to fame is the birthplace of Waltzing Matilda which Banjo Paterson wrote in the pub many moons ago.
