Still travelling west in southern QLD, we ended up at a place called Nindigully. Not a town just a pub! The pub offers free camping, free showers and toilets and of course good pub company and food.
The area behind the pub where camping is permitted has had recent heavy rain and some of the crusty top mud that looks like it is hard and dry is wet underneath and I managed to step into it....yuk! The ground is so dry and hard and cracked from long time drought that it cannot handly heavy rain. When it did rain they had to get some people pulled out with heavy machinery. We wont be hanging around if it rains I can tell you. We are only intending to stay the night and tomorrow we are looking to stay in St George which is about 70km down the track.
We went to happy hour tonight, $3 pots and house wines. We chatted with others and had a good time. Then we headed for the free hot showers, nice. Allen put the yabbie nets out but we are not hopeful. There was nothing in them tonight and we will check them again in the morning. There is hardly any water in the river.
We have the generator on and we are watching a movie, fan on, fridge and freezer on and electronics charging......way out here in the bush where it is pitch black outside. You dont know how dark the night is until you spend a night in the remote areas in the bush, or live in remote areas.
We will see what tomorrow brings.......
