FARFRUMWURKEN
It's been a few days since the last blog. Happy 238th anniversary to all my American friends. Hopefully the celebration of your country's independence from Britain went well.
On Friday afternoon, we ended up going to a Democratic party here in Ajijic - there was likely over 200+ Democrats (and a few closet Republicans I'm sure) that had been invited to a large private hacienda on the west side of Ajijic. For a 200Peso entrance fee per ticket, we were treated to burgers, dogs, chili, potato and best of all apple pie.
There was a band, swimming pool and a tour of the hacienda but when the darkest clouds came over the mountains it was just the right excuse to make a quick exit. We headed to the SUV and made our way to J&C's house for a game of Mexican Train with Ron and Maggie - our newest friends from Grand Bend, Ontario. They're in the casita just two doors down the hill.
I got up pretty early Saturday morning to watch the Bouchard match, but I got somewhat side tracked with a couple of ******** emails from a family member. Despite all that, we were hoping for Eugenie to emerge victorious at Wimbledon. Even with the loss, we agree with the mostly English spectators that yelled - "We still LOVE you".
Today was my second Bridge lesson with "C" and it seems even more intense than I first thought - there is just so much to learn - I'll never be able to get a grip on this game with only one lesson left before we leave back to Canada on the 20th.
Tonight Deb and I shared a fantastic dinner here at the casita. After quite a bit of consideration I've come to the conclusion that my favorite new animal is SHRIMP. At the Tenguis on Wednesday I bought 1 kg. of Jumbo Shrimp that we BBQ'd (grilled for those in the south) up tonight with steak, vegetables, Coronita's and an incredible sunset as a backdrop. The perfect ending to a great day was Netherlands penalty victory (4-3) over Costa Rica.
Tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. we've been invited to J&C's for Breakfast at Wimbledon to watch Roger's last grand slam victory and from there we're off to Tlaquepaque (T-lock-a-paw-k) for some sightseeing, shopping and lunch in this quaint little town east of Guadalarjara. The fun just never stops here in the south.
