FARFRUMWURKEN
As I said yesterday, we were invited to J&C's for Breakfast at Wimbledon. Given our current time zone this meant that the Federer/Djokovic match started at 08:00ish. After an amazing five-set loss by Roger we then headed out for lunch to Tlaquepaque.
Tlaquepaque (T-lok-a-pok-a) is a great town just east of Guadalajara, Mexico. The shops are so unique. Many of the ex-pats here in Ajijic go to both Tonala and Tlaquepaque when shopping for furniture for their new Mexican casa. If you need anything from furniture to lighting fixtures this is the place at a pretty good prices.
First on the list was lunch - we went to Restaurante Casa Fuerte where we ordered their infamous Tamarind Margarita's - spectacular. Lunch was amazing as well. From there we hit the streets and shops along this pedestrian only outdoor mall.
One of the places that I just had to revisit was the Sergio Bustamante store/museum. For those who don't know about Sergio's work - I've attached some photographs of some of his sculptures - I'm not sure where the ideas come for his work but they are truly thought provoking.
The weather in town was hot and humid so it was great to get back into an air-conditioned SUV for the 45-minute trip home. As soon as we got inside the Casita, it was snooze city for both of us - worn out from the heat and full bellies. I'm heading off to doctor to get a script for some muscle relaxers which will hopefully address some of the back pain that I've been dealing with over the last few days - I always seemed to be at the back of the pack during our walkabout through Tlaquepaque so I better deal with it before it gets worse.
I want to thank the 180 visitors so far who have read my blog - I really appreciate you following us here in the south. It's 14 days left until we head back north on the 20th - we'll be sad to leave when that time comes around.
Thanks again.
Bob
