Day 345 (Friday 14th November 08)

Very quiet night's sleep in the middle of nowhere. Headed onto Manapouri which had awesome scenery. Made some breakfast and sat by the lake enjoying the scenery. It was then onto Te Anau. On the way we passed another of the filming site for Lord of the Rings. Found some internet once we were in Te Anau to use Skype. Once we were finished we were very hungry so went and cooked up! Parked up down by the marina and were about to study when this little dog appeared in our van! It had been running backwards and forwards for ages but we had assumed the owner was around somewhere. It seemed very distressed so Em went and asked the person in the car nextdoor if it was their's. It wasn't so Em then went across the road to ask one of the locals out in their garden if she knew who's it was. She didn't and said there weren't meant to be dogs running around here and didn't seem very impressed, she said she would call the police and get them to come and sort it out. We kept the dog around us so it wouldn't get hit by a car and she soon came across to get the dog as the police had said for her to phone the owner. Luckily we soon saw the owner come and collect the dog. Did some study and then went for a walk. Popped to the DOC office to have a look and then parked up to make something to eat. Watched the sunset and then filled up with petrol. Everywhere in the middle of Te Anau seemed to have no camping signs so drove a bit out to find somewhere by the lake to sleep.
