Day 352 (Friday 21st November 08)

Into Kaikoura to have a look around and some breakfast. Went out to the end point where there were meant to be a lot of seals around. One on the rocks right infront of where we parked very close! Walked up the hill to the viewpoint which was a good view over Kaikoura and could see some seals playing in the water. Back into Kaikoura and to the tourist information. Had heard that Kaikoura was a good cheap place for crayfish so went to a couple of places to have a look at prices but way to much for us so made our way out of Kaikoura and in land towards Hanmer Springs. Another very scenic drive through the mountains which was awesome. Hanmer Springs a nice little town. Parked up and did some study once we had cooked up some lunch. Went into the Hanmer Springs to see what they were like and go for a dip! The hottest pool was 41ºC which was pretty hot, nice but not for too long! Made our way around the rest of the pools with the amazing mountains in the background. Left as we were getting hungry so back to the van to get changed and get something to eat! Did some more study and then thought we would go and fill up with petrol to drive just out of Hanmer Springs to stay the night. Unfortunately the only petrol pumps there had closed so went off in search of somewhere to stay in the town. Didn't find anywhere very good and ended up parked outside Mitre 10. Played some backpacker until it was dark and decided it probably wasn't a very good place to stay. Off to the other side of the town and managed to find somewhere to park for the night.
