Day 341 (Monday 10th November 08)
Woke up to an amazing view as the weather had changed completely and was nice and sunny. The mountains looked awesome so once we had eaten our breakfast we drove back to the Mount Cook lookout by Lake Pukaki and saw what a different place it looked from the day before. Enjoyed the amazing view for a while before heading off to the Salmon Farm just past Twizel. Found out we couldn't fish for our own salmon but fed them and then ended up buying one! Carried on driving through Omarama then past a couple of the scenic lakes. Stopped at a Maori Rock art site, most of it had been weathered away but we could still see some faintly. We then saw the amazing Elephant Rocks where they filmed for The Chronicles of Narnia. Once we arrived in Oamaru found a BBQ to cook up our salmon. Unfortunately both the BBQs just took our money and didn't work so ended up having to cook the salmon on our little portable BBQ. Very tasty and well worth it. Then went to have a quick look in the information centre and park up to do some study. Later went to the lookout to watch the yellow eyed penguins. Luckily after we had only been there about 15 minutes we saw a few coming out of the sea. We were got to see one of the New Zealand Fur Seals sleeping on the beach. Once we had finished here went and parked up somewhere to make something to eat. Studied for a while longer before going to find somewhere to sleep for the night.
