We spent a lovely day on Green Island - we went on a big cat which was full and seated 300 people! It was a very calm day so we had no problems with Matthew being seasick and Green Island is 27km from Cairns so it took just over an hour. We first took a walk around the island which took about 20 minutes and then set off snorkling. We have discovered that if Claire snorkles in a life jacket all is well - it keeps her afloat and she can join in (or more accurately so can one of the parents). We saw lots of fish and sea cucumbers and coral. We had a lunch on board the big cat and then did a semisubmersible trip for half an hour which was really really excellent - we saw lots of great fish (especially when they fed them) and followed that by a trip in a glass bottom boat also for half an hour which was also great. We had a terrific day. We did another lot of snorkling after the boat trips and came back to the big cat when it started to rain, but that was only 20 minutes or so before we were due to depart anyway. So we did have a lovely reef experience.
