Adelaide is a really pretty city and we have packed a lot into 2 days here. We visited the Rodney Fox Shark Experience - he is now a shark advocate despite surviving an horrific attack in the 1960s when he was 23. It was most interesting in a macarb sort of way. We stopped in Clare in honour of our Claire and tasted wine at just one winery - all I was allowed by the kids, who are somewhat bored by wine tasting - not surprisingly. We did a drive from Port Lincoln called Whalers Way which had some really spectacular coastal scenery like this one which is called Theakstones crevasse. The scenery is dramatic, wind blown and scary....the waves thunder in and it was, for this area, a relatively calm day. Coffin Bay is named for Sir Isaac Coffin, a friend of Matthew Flinders - we seem to have been following Matthew Flinders for some time now and have got quite fond of him! Eucla Telegraph station was fascinating as it has been reclaimed by the dunes as you can see in this photo. We did learn at the museum at the Eyre Bird Observatory though that at the height of its operation there were 2 rooms of operators - one for WA and one for SA as the lines were not joined together.
