From Cape Le Grand we drove a 4wd track called the Balladonia track which was narrow and a bit sanday but saved a few hundred kms and was quite an interesting drive. We also took most of the detours off the Eyre Highway to look at the coast and took 3 days to cross over to the Eyre Peninsular in SA. Cape Le Grand claims the most beautiful beaches in Australia and whilst I would agree they are gorgeous and white, the water is extremely cold (this is the southern ocean) and for many months there is a lot of seaweed on them. This photo is from the Giants Tree Top walk which we did a few days ago, but was terrific, especially as we didn't allow the kids to climb the fire spotting trees - it reaches 40m above the ground but is wheelchair accessible. The area surrounding Albany is lovely and the William Bay NP was especially nice with a lovely swimming area called Greens Pool which is protected by large boulders and its neighbouring Elephant Rocks (pictured here). Rich was the only one in the family to attempt a tree climb, though the kids were really keen.
