We spent some time at the Daintree Discovery centre which has a boardwalk and a tower into the canopy of the trees and a really good interpretative centre (which was our schoolwork for the day). It was impressive. We also enjoyed the trip across in the car ferry across the Daintree River - it is a very busy ferry, one suspects they don't build a bridge as that makes this area too accessible. We drove onto Cape Tribulation to camp for the night and it was drizzling - we considered a cabin, but they only slept 2 and could not fit a 3rd, so we couldn't even split up, so it was camping and we all got out of the car and walked around to try and decide where was the least wet. In the end we parked the trailer on the road of the campground and folded off the road into the least squelchy mud and it poured and poured and poured all night. It was our worst night by far - we were dry inside, but the canvas was thoroughly wet through and the mud was running under the floor which you could feel. They have had 7.5 metres, yes metres of rainfall this year so far!!! Needless to say in the morning we packed up when it eased off a bit and left to get away from the coast and all the rain! I think perhaps we don't have the best impression of Cape Tribulation!
