We spent 5 nights in Cairns which was much longer than we had intended, but packing up wet canvas seemed pointless so we did day trips to some of the places we thought we might stay. The picture for this postcard shows the only dry afternoon in Cairns but it looks threatening, though we did have a dry but grey day on Green Island (27km off the coast). We stil did loads of things and had a great time. Cairns was even quite warm at night. The caravan park had an all you can eat pizza night for $5 per head and the local pizza shop delivered 130 large boxes of pizza!! We had a good time chatting to lots of others in the park and the boys ate more pizza than I thought was humanly possible for those under 10!! Cairns also has a waterfront pool which has a man made beach as there is nowhere to swim in Cairns and it is a very pleasant spot. They have not done as well as Townsville which is much much nicer city and everything in Cairns is designed to lighten your wallet!!
