Sunday
Another day in Karumba so no rush to get up this morning. We have a lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs and then drive into town. Karumba is sort of split in two - when you are driving in you go straight ahead to the town or turn off before hand to go to Karumba Point (where we are).
We visit the 5 star supermarket because we are intrigued by the rating. It really is a very small supermarket but down the back you can also buy fridges, washing machines, TVs and a selection of smaller electrical stuff. Other than that the town was pretty quiet but then again it is Sunday. We call in at the information centre and the lady mentions there are markets at the hotel on the point so we hurry back but are too late.
We go back to the park and have some nibbles while publishing my blog posts. Martin decides to have a nap so I go for a short walk to have a look around and come across some wallabies. Martin is awake by the time I return and after looking at the tyres on the camper he decides to change one of them as it has a cut in the side wall. He's becoming an expert taking tyres on and off this trip.
We have a look at the maps and pamphlets we have collected and talk about how we will head down to Birdsville. We decide on Cloncurry then Mt Isa but will wait and see how long we spend in these towns before making more decisions.
We walk down to the hotel tonight - an easy 10 minute stroll and call in at the fish and chip and souveneir shop. After buying some T-shirts and stickers we walk over to the hotel. Martin gets the drinks and while I'm talking to another traveller we hear glass smash. There are shouts of "taxi" and I don't look around straight away as I don't want to add to whoever's embarrassment but when I sneak a peek it's Martin. He's dropped a full glass if beer and a champagne glass.
He gets a new drink and we go outside to watch an even better sunset tonight before walking back to the park. Dinner tonight is the sausages we bought from Georgetown and they are delicious. It' said bit cooler tonight so after some FaceTime with the girls we go inside and have an early night.
