Thursday
A lovely sleep in this morning after another cool night. After breakfast we take a walk up the main street. We cross the road to avoid a sprinkler and pass the pub, community centre, school and police house. We cross over the road and pass a park and go up to the roadhouse which also has a caravan park and tavern. We restock the bread (frozen) and dish washing liquid then return down the main street past the council building and information centre. We went back in to the info centre as Chris had told us last night that they have a 15 minute video that is worthwhile - and it was. It was a history and explanation of huge area and at the end there was news footage of the last big floods in the area. We actually got to see the flood plains under water and it was impressive.
We picked up some souvenirs and and continued back to camp past the Mud House and old police station. After lunch we went to the pool and had a sit in the hot pool. I then went for a swim in the large cold pool, even diving under. That cold water really wakes you up!
Back to camp for a shower and over the Chris and Shirley's again for happy hour. Martin and I had decided to have dinner at the pub tonight ($15 crumbed steak night) so we left at about 6.30pm to wander over to the pub. The meal was delicious with a real old fashioned salad - potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, egg, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, cheese etc etc.
We'd forgotten a torch so walked back to camp in the dark. Martin watched the footy and I finished another book before going to sleep.
