Hey Everyone, I am very sorry that i havent been writing u all a postcard as i have been busy with lots of things with CBR. I really enjoyed working with them and have been travelling to lot of different places and meeting lot of different people to talk about my work and their needs from us. In Guyana, there are lots of blind organisations, lots of CBR units based in 7 different regions which there is 10 here in Guyana. I have visited 4 regions already, will be visiting more soon. It is long and exhausting day for some of the trips to visit Region 2 and Region 6. (Georgetown is in Region 4!) There is no deaf organisations at all which it is particularly the reason why myself and ashton are being sent to Guyana to help CBR to set the relationship between CBR and Deaf community to support them in different issues. We also will be teaching Deaf Awareness and American Sign Language to public and hopefully to do it in the newspaper and to go on TV to show that Deaf people can do it. I will try to get Guyanese deaf people to do their actions too because they dont stand up for themselves. It will be really hard for us to achieve but we believe that we will achieve a lot during our one year stay in Guyana. We have settled down here great because here is not much different than England as there are lots of similair things that i can find here that i can find in England. so we havent missed England that much apart from friends and family of course (dont u all worry! we have been thinking of u all at home!) We have been playing football 3-4 times a week in the park with local people and it was fantastic. We also keep up with premier league by going to hotel to watch it on TV live on Sat morning and Sunday morning if it is our team on it!! The food here is very english so that is not a problem for us to cope with the food! :D Hope you all in UK/Ireland are well and alive! :D Missing ya all and will keep u all up to date with everything!
