Hey everyone from the different country!
Suriname is a really beautiful country, more of tourist place than Guyana and they got huge shopping complex and a MCDONALD! Lots of lovely historical sites and dutch speaking people who i am grateful to have Marco to be with me so we can have good conversation and we can communicate with other people through Marco who are a dutch person! :D WE are good friends and we want to travel together and getting know the person and he want to learn more ASL which i am willing to help him to improve his communication skills! :D
Travelling to Suriname took us 13 hours by bus and boat but we enjoyed the travel as we chatting away and catching some sleep as we left the place at 4 am, and arriving there at 6pm (1 hour forward!).
When we arrived the place called Paramaribo and we like the place and the hostel are really nice too but got some construction works ongoing but the room are lovely :D we made ourselves comfortable and went out for a dinner. Few steps from the hotel, we bumped into deaf people!! Amazing that we literally met the deaf people first out of everyone! We had a conversation, I did find it quiet hard at first as they are signing so different and Marco understand them more than i did!! they speak quite good in dutch therefore Marco can follow them! but we still use ASL and sort of International signs to communicate them and we enjoyed half hour chats until it is time for us to eat and for them to do other things, we planned to meet up again the next night to have a good chat about everything!
We had dinner at tourist area, where there are almost full of dutch people eating the food and drinking. we had lovely meal and had a look around the place as it got couple of casino, bars, hotels, etc before heading back to our hotel to have a good night sleep at 11pm as we are totally worn out from travelling.
Next day, we woke up with good suriname breakfast (similar to holland!) an ready to go out and explore the place, we went to central of paramaribo and it got lots of good shops, historical buildings etc... we scroll around and taking lots of pictures and look at souvenior shops and bought some items to remember Suriname!
In evening, we went to rural place to have a good dinner on suriname culture which it is JAVA, similar to indian but more of suirnamise indian food and it was so delicious and i totally enjoyed the night with Marco and the atmosphere is different there :D
We then have a fresh day to look at Fort Zeelanders, it is old war museum, based on history of colonies between Dutch and British and all the wars.. It was really good and we learned more about Suriname History. Evening, went to brazilian Restaurant then went to casino for laugh but somehow i won 100 SD on bingo which it is free to enter... i feel so wicked and we decided to spend it on nice food on last night! went home at 2am..
The last day was horrible and raining,so went to bowling and had great time as we had lots of fun! then went to do some last min shopping on gifts, food as marco want to bring some dutch food to Guyana for his gf and have a nice cafe at nice place before eating the last dinner at Queens Hotel which it is really nice. WE went back to hotel and packed our stuff and wait for the bus to arrive at 3am!! we watch Basketball on TV and reading books while waiting...
Bus arrived and took us all the way back to Georgetown with a minor bimp just before arriving the city as bus wheel bursted!! so had to wait for an hour for the driver to fix it in hot hot weather! but finally we arrived back and we totally enjoyed the week in Suriname and glad that we experienced the different country and it was worth it big time! :D
Enjoy the pictures and will write more postcards in near future!
