The first big step on our way home is to cross the big bay called The Hano Bucht. We chose to cross to Christiansø as we have never managed to visit. Today we started in light winds but had to motor sail all the way 43 miles 7.5 hours. The wind got up to 12/13 knots but it was from behind and we just don't make a good speed in that wind and angle. The islands have been a military fortress and are completely walled round. Unlike last nights island this one has 90 residents and has the feel of a proper community. The school is one of the smallest in Denmark with only 10/15 children. There is a ferry from Bornholm that brings over 45,000 visitors every year. In 1808 the British bombed the island with over 300 bombs and 300 cannonballs but were unable to take the island fortress.
