Our first blow out and thats not a blow out with food as we have had plenty of them!!
This was a true blow out with one of the bus tyres. What a noise it sounded like it was coming through the bus wall. Lotte and Archie got a fright but soon calmed down when we explained what had happened. How would it be that we were right next to some roadworks and when we asked for some local tyre suppliers we were given a mob number that we promptly rang? Mitchell's tyres answered and could see us from where he was "in the road works" fixing one of their tyres, much to his credit he said to head up the road 2 km to a truck stop and he would come and help in around 3.5 hours when he had finished his job. So this meant coffee and school time (any opportunity to catch up on some school work). Within 2 hours, two new tyres changed and a very reasonable call out fee and we were back on the road to arrive at Gin Gin Show Grounds for a couple of nights.
Dad/Mum why is it called Gin Gin, is it because Gin is made here? No but Bundaberg is only 30 km down the road and Bundy is made there!!!!
This was a must stop, Bundaberg drinkers from way back we thought it only right to take the kids here.
So we drove in for the day. This was our first real look at so many rice fields.
While Tim did a "must shop at Bunnings" Fidge Lotte and Archie walked the river banks of Bundaberg.
We then went and purchased some of the local produce from the Bundaberg barrel-some Guava juice before heading to the Bundaberg Rum Factory. Even though this was a rum factory tour it was actually very educational and wasn't just a reminisce from the old B & S days. Lotte and Archie thouroughly enjoyed it and have come away with a good understaing of sugar cane, mollases, fermentaion and the Bundaberg Rum Shop.
