We arrived in Weipa on Friday arfternoon to a very warm welcome from Gav, Peta, Mia and Dion and Grandma Sue. Good freinds from a former life in Tom Price.
We spent four days at their house soaking up the comforts of a real home, along with some very special home cooking with the thermomix and generous hospitality.
Gav took on the role of 'GAVS Fishing Tours' and took us up the river Little Annie on a couple of expeditions where we had much good luck. We all managed to pull in some amazing fish and had no encounters from the well known crocs of the area.
Some of the fish included 1 size barra (68 cm) and 2 undersize barra, a size mangrove jack, a river cod, a few bream (rats of the river), a massive threadfin salmon (87 cm) which Archie bought in on his own little rod, after much huffing and puffing dad manged to get it in the net and on board. Archie was very pumped with this and promptly started to sing and dance Gangman style. He was like a pig in sh#t andding this to his own barra he caught the day before.
The next day was spent riding their quad bike and 4 wds on the beach and having a family bbq with our fresh fish - arrgh this is the life.
Weipa being another Rio town bought back some similarities in lifestyle and opportunities but with a distinct difference of tropical coastal living. The dining experinces were similar as Tom Price and the kids were happy to visit the second hand shop to get some books. Lotte went to drop Mia at school and when asked by the theacher what her parents did she replied they are both teachers!!!

Peta Williams Agggh we miss you guys! Dion wants to know when Archie In The Bus (his full name) is coming home from his holiday, when I tell him that he may not be coming back here he gets very cranky and tells me YES HE IS! When is he coming home?
