We had our last 2 nights camping in our swags here at Undarra Volcanic Larva Tubes. Here we meet two lovely families who's chldren Lotte and Archie loved playing with. Lotte so much not wanting to do anything but go back and play with Matilda.
Walking around the rim of a 190,000 year old volcano and imagining life here that long ago then Archie spotting a snake allowed for an very interesting morning.
Next for the afternoon we had a tour to the volcanic larva tubes run by an englishman bording on an excentric, someone who was asleep and helerious all at the same time. Melrose and Tim had to refrain from laughing throughout the entire cave experince.
We however learnt some interesting geological terms:
a slump
drip and dribble
larvasicle
and saw some horseshoe bats.
The birdlife and anilmals here were in abudence and it was nice waking up to hearing them all, even if the kookabarras thought it was funny watchng us emerge from our swags all blurry eyed.
From here we drove to Innot Hot Springs. Unbeliveable to feel a natural spring with such hot water. With only dipping our toes in the water and feeling like they have been burnt. Then to Atherton to see the Curtain Fig National Park. quiet an amazing set of roots and interesting how they ended up growing there. The kids though seemed more intested in Melrose's rain jacket that had not been used in 9 years and had some very intesting features.
Tonight we treated ourselves to a cabin at the caravan park. we all were ready for our own space and a comfottable clean bed.
Monday 4th we were back in Cairns and had the new tyres put on and rear window fixed. How nice to be back in our home again (our blue bus)
