Well after having an impression of Canberra to er on the side of boring all our opinions have changed.
On arriving there with our jackets and scarves we proceeded to the view of night lights over looking Canberra and for first impressions this was pretty cool. We stayed at a "Families Caravan and Cabin Park" (Sutton -NSW border) that fitted our big rig along with a small lake, duck feeding, mini golf and other fun kids playing stuff.
With only one day to spend here we thought we should take Lotte and Archie to Parliament House for the education side of it.
What an amazing place; the architecture, setting, history, art work, visiting the house of representatives and the information given on our half hour tour was fantastic. The only disappointment was Lotte who was hoping to meet Tony Abbot -not so on our visit!
We then headed to the Australian War Museum and again pleasantly surprised. We were able to fly a helicopter, sleep and work in a submarine as well as sample the smell of working and living underwater with colleagues, experience trench foot in a real life bunker, at one stage Lotte and Archie jumped behind Mum and Dad when a helicopter landed and gun shot were fired, and another Tim and Melrose were in tears. Even better it was all free!
Hopefully we will return to experience the other things Canberra has to offer.
