Staying at Rocky Creek Scout Camp, looking forward to having some jamboree and coombyar and chewing on some damper (we are able to have an open fire). We were lucky enough to be on the generous end of a gentleman who was picking strawberries at a local farm and he gave us 2 punnets on seperste occasions. These strawberries we must say were some of the best we have ever eaten. Big call coming from Tas but they were almost cruchy but so very juicy, tasty, red and huge.
Saturday the 14th we dove to Eumandi Markets. Great markets we now have some very yummy local homemade and grown produce and the kids have a venus fly trap each sitting up in the front window top level of the bus!!
Drove up through the Glasshouse Mountains to Maleny and surroundings towns, great view and quaint towns. Very scenic pitty it was a bit overcast as we could see some amazing mountains through the clouds, sure it would have been even more amazing on a clear day. Remembering Rach and Stuie's wedding and rthe fun time we had sveral years ago.
A Sunday of school at the Scouts Park and some maintenace on the bus and ute, then more school Monday am before heading to Caloundra to catch up with Nick, Victoria, Amity and Elliot Headlam. We then managed to crash another family dinner with Margie, Ian, Chris and Claire. Was great to see them and have a lovely meal on the beach.
With many pineapple crops aound we all learnt that they don't grow as one from the bottom but a large fruit from a miniture almost palm like bush base. Amazing and sooo tasty when grown so locally and fresh.
Tuesday was an Adventure with all the Headlams to Australa Zoo. The only downfall the kids didn't get to see Bindi, although Tim did get to give her a kiss as promisesd if he saw her. (too bad it was a cardboard cut out!!!!). Australia Zoo was a well set up Zoo with many animals obviously well cared for and aloud to roam at various times with their keepers. Lots for various ages to enjoy and many learning opertunities.
Lotte's favourite animal = the koala because it was so soft
Archie's favourite animal = the snakes
Tim's favourite animal = a black cockatoo who was able to collect a $5 note from a spectator
Melrose's favourite animals = all of them of course, but if she had to choose the giraffe as it was so perfect in every way.
After Australia Zoo we were treated with a visit from the Headlams to our big blue bus. Tea, beer, bundy and fruit cake and an open fire were all on offer. Was great catching up with the Headlams (sorry d*** and Bonnie weren't there) Lotte and Archie both loved playing with Amity and Elliot.
We finished the night off with the ones still standing for dinner at the Ettamogah Pub. What a fun pub with great cartoons.

Marcus Did you see Bindi Bindi? She's a good talker! Ettamogah Pub was a feature cartoon in the Post when I was a teenager! Where to next? Gympie has a gold mine and probably a museum.im sure you'll bypass Bundaberg after all what could be of interest there? Mackay and the Pioneer Valley must go to Eungella rain forest.
