We were all very happy for the weekend to arrive this fortnight was a bit of a battle with school for all of us.
We arrived at Calliope River free parking along with at least another 60 other grey nomad caravans to stay 3 nights.
Saturday we headed straight into Gladstone where we spent the day soaking up the harbour and mining life, reminiscing about the old mining town similarities. Lunch at Spinnaker Park confirming this with customer service not the priority in these busy mining towns. (poor service and we will charge).
We had a swim at Barney Point Beach very warm but course sand. Looked at the view of the harbour and town from James Cook Lookout, this had a great 360 view and it was quite interesting to see all the movements around here. We drove around the aluminium factory which was absolutely gigantic and amazed at how close we could drive around it.
We also visited the suburb Glen Eden where we have built a duplex, we were unable to gain access due to the short notice, maybe on our way back traveling south.
Sunday we went to Awoonga Lake hoping to catch our Barramundi. On arrival we were informed that even though the season at this lake never closed it was unlikely we would catch one the water was too cold. Oh well it was a beautiful lake and we threw a line in anyway and were able to watch some waterskiing while having a picnic lunch.
