April has arrived... rain seasons is almost over (I hope), sun is shining most of the time and we are sweating our ass off. Last sunday I picked up my brother Tero and his friend Eetu from the airport. Laddies were quite exhausted spending the night (drinking beer) at Singapore and only slept during the flights. I took the guys to the same place where Arto and Mari were keeping their headquarters at Kuta and after little refreshing and ass sweat wiping we head for some lunch and some welcoming beers of course. I also ordered some foods from Finland, mainly rye bread, cheese, pea soup and because of Easter, some chocolate eggs were included in the basket... damn that bread with cheese tasted awesome!
In Bali/Indonesia things are little unpredictable sometimes. Last blog entry I added some pictures from the villa and said that we're gonna stay there at least until halfway of May... I lied. The villa had been reserved for some other people and we have to move again 14th of April. Tero and Eetu shared a room in Bingin for couple of days, but after Eetu's girlfriend Riina came here and I was going to move anyway, so we decided with Tero to take a cheap room near Uluwatu beach. Uluwatu is one of the best places to surf around the year and because we both share the same passion for surfing, this location is pretty much quite awesome. Last days we haven't done anything but surfed couple times per day... Ok, one or two Kuta parties with Bintangs.
When I arrived to Bali, I was hoping to find some company to hit the waves with me. First Ole and I surfed a lot together, but after his shoulder injury I kinda surfed alone. Then I met Dmitri, my Dutch bro-surf mate and we hit the waves quite a lot before he had to head home. Surfing alone is not a problem, because there are always people in the water... but still it is way more funnier to do it in a good company. Now Tero is here and it's surftastic!. Actually my former roommates Henkka, Arto and Johannes has improved their surfing skills a lot, so I have surfed with them also couple times... Bali makes surfers, so stop reading and come here!
Last friday we went to surf again with Tero at Uluwatu. Waves were quite good, lot of small head height funny waves and couple bigger double head heights arrived occasionally. I was having a great day and thought it couldn't get any better... I was wrong. I caught the best wave I've ever ridden before, mellow double head height and building some roof over my head. It is hard to describe the feeling when I surfed that wave, adrenaline rushing, water spilling all over and just for few seconds I forgot entirely everything else around me... it still makes me smile even to think about that wave. Everyone should have some activity to get their mind out from reality once in a while, I'm happy I found mine. Peace Out!
