Hello there mates! Weekend is over and it's time to head to a new school week tomorrow. If you don't already know, we have every fridays off from school, kind of a "self-learning day" and we actually studied last friday... about how to surf in Canggu. Friday was quite sunny day, so we drove to Canggu beach (with my roommates) to surf. One annoying thing about driving in Bali is that you won't never find the destination with a single try... There are no signs at all, every corner looks the same, you need to be a very patient (Patience in Bali is priceless!!) and even Finnish men have to ask a way occasionally. So after several dead-ends and about two hour driving we found the Canggu beach. After eating I hopped to the ocean immediately and others followed me after renting a board first. Waves were quite nice beach break waves at first, but got little too powerless after couple of hours. Nevertheless great day in water!
Yesterday morning I woke up about 7am and looked out of windows... sun was shining, awesome right? After quick breakfast and sun cream session I drove to Nusa Dua to check the waves and surf. Arriving after a half hour driving, I saw that there were no waves at all. Ok, no worries I said to myself, but then I got like a s***storm of rain on me. So there I was, lonely at the beach, standing with my board, looking waveless ocean while raining like never before... "still no worries, THIS IS BALI!", I nearly shouted with a grin on my face and headed back home. Afternoon I took a cab after lunch and headed to the airport to pick up Taru, my classmate from Finland and also my first guest here in Bali. Taru had been exchanger in Phuket Thailand last fall and now she is travelling in Asia and decided to check Bali... good choice! After picking her up and couple hours of napping, nearly all of us from the villa headed to the nightlife of Kuta. It was quite late, nearly midnight so there was only nightclubs to go... and one thing about the nightclubs at Kuta is that it seems they are trying to shoot your a****** into the moon with the bassboomblasters. Luckily we found one terrace at Eikon's bar, where we actually were able to have a little conversation going on... although it is against the wild nature of finnish drinking habit to actually speak.
Today morning was sunny again, so we headed to Padang Padang beach to surf and sun bathing. Waves was quite hard and short, but I managed to get a bunch of good righties and had a blast time there. The current and onshore wind was also strong, so it was exhausting to paddle there but it is good training still. Now we are chillin' out with the gang in our living room... life is pretty good here in the island of gods, peace out!
