G'day! More than a week from my last post, must be record but I uploaded some photos for you guys to enjoy in the wintery Finland. Time goes by pretty fast and now it has been about two months since I left Finland behind. Not so much new things to tell... well let's start with the fact that I didn't go to Medewi trip, mainly because the weather wasn't so good last weekend and that toe was still a little bit sore. But nevertheless I ended having a great weekend. I went to check the new surf beach called Serangan with Dmitri and Shorty. It is actually an island but nowadays there's a road connection, so it's easy and fast to drive there. The beach is quite far from the tourist places, little warungs (restaurants) next to each other and people there is very friendly. Because of these reasons I ended surfing there the whole weekend ,3 days in a row with 2 surf sessions each day. The place is so peaceful, that even I found my relaxing gear (I normally can't stand lying on the beach and do nothing) and between the surf sessions I just lied on the warung "bed" and fell asleep while watching the ocean and surfers. The main picture can tell more from the view, definitely a place where I'm gonna spend more time!
This week was also the last regular school week before our mid-term exams, so this weekend has already begun quite easily and trying to keep it that way. Our workshop day last thursday concentrated on Balinese dancing. Second picture is from that workshop and as you can see it was really fun, even though I didn't have any idea what I was dancing there. Also wearing jeans while dancing is not so pleasant combination, sweat and tightness all over. Fun way to learn the culture and get a little deeper perspective about the life here. The workshop was on Denpasar campus, so I took my surfing gear with me and headed to Serangan again after school with Henkka. Also other classmates tagged along to see the island. It was a great way to relax, right? It could have been, but the wind and the currents were so strong that it took nearly an hour to paddle out in the line-up and when I got there, I was too tired to do anything. But after a nasi goreng (fried rice and egg), fluids and some rest it was time to go again.
Weather has been pretty unpredictable last days... very strong winds, few rains and sun. Couple nights ago I woke up at night because the wind was extremely strong. Henkka and I sleep in the third floor of this house so it's pretty noisy when the wind is strong and I actually was a little scared that the whole roof will fly away. Luckily the roof is still there, but the next morning while driving to school there was lot of signs and trees sideways everywhere. Now the weather has calmed for while and the wet season is nearly ended. Next week is the mid-term exams and after that I'm planning a longer trip to the east part of Indonesia... Sumba, Sumbawa and Lombok I guess. I don't have anything planned, I just go with the flow and no worries as usual. But I'll tell you more next week when I actually have something to tell, now I'm just wasting my two-or-three readers time. Peace Out!
